From ThyroWorld Volume 1, No. 2, Autumn 1998 We are indeed honoured to add two new names to our list of distinguished patrons. Dr. Kazua Hashimoto of Japan is the son of Dr. Hakaru Hashimoto, who first described the autoimmune thyroid disease that bears his name. Dr. Hashimoto died in 1934 at the young age of 53. His son is pleased to join TFI and to work for thyroid patients in memory of his father.
Dr. Peter Pfannenstiel of Germany, named 1997 Physician of the Year in Germany, has been a great contributor to the success of TFI and a great supporter of thyroid groups in Germany. Stepping down from TFI's executive, he was unanimously chosen to take his rightful place among our Honorary Patrons and has graciously accepted.
